William J. Siard, Sr., 87, who lived most of his life in Greensburg, passed away on July 30, 2023, in Valencia, Pennsylvania. He was born August 6, 1935, in Latrobe to the late Gilbert, Sr. and Aileen (Geary) Siard. William married the love of his life, the recently departed Florence (Urban) Siard in 1955. Together they raised 3 children: William Jr, Thomas, and Vicki. He graduated from Greensburg High School and attended Saint Vincent College. He worked for 34 years at Southwest Bank, where he rose to Vice President. After “retirement,” he worked at Walmart for over 20 years where customers would often seek him out to greet him. “Bill” was a people-person with a warm sense of humor. He loved to entertain people of all ages with his jokes and stories. His kids, grandkids, and others enjoyed listening to him tell the antics of him, his brothers and neighborhood kids growing up in the streets of Latrobe. (Our favorite part was him laughing uncontrollably while telling them!) Bill was also the co-lead vocalist of the husband-wife duo who would enthusiastically phone relatives to sing “Happy Birthday.” Ever the optimist, Bill adapted admirably to the changes and challenges life brought his way, thereby inspiring others. Yes, Bill loved people, but none like Florence, his bride of 67 years with whom he is now reunited. He is survived by sons William (Diana) Siard Jr., and Thomas (Lisa) Siard, daughter Vicki (Jeff) Rothermel, grandchildren Jeremy and William (Caitlin) Siard III, Melissa (Alex) Altman, Christian Siard, and Ryan and Rachel Rothermel. In addition to his wife and parents, William was preceded in death by brothers (and sisters-in-law), Gilbert, Jr. (June), Roger (Andrea), and Kevin (Frances). Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of William, Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020. Prayers of transfer will be said in the funeral home Saturday at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg. Entombment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. The family would like to thank the staff of The Arbors at St. Barnabas for their compassionate care and kindness given to their father. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude PL, Memphis, TN 38105. William’s family has entrusted his care to the Pantalone Funeral Home Inc., Greensburg. For online condolences / directions, visit us at pantalone.com. Natale N. Pantalone, supervisor.
