Vincent “Vinny” Guy Petroy Sr., age 82, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Greensburg, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025. He was born April 22, 1942, in Greensburg to John D. Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Cremonese) Petroy. Vinny married the love of his life, Donna Marie DeBone, in 1964, and they shared sixty years together. Left behind to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Donna; two sons, Vincent (Julane) Petroy Jr., Jay Petroy, and beloved grandchildren, Allison and Nick Petroy. Vinny attended Greensburg-Salem High School and graduated in 1960. He then attended California State College; he earned his Bachelor in Business Administration from Upper Iowa University. He also served his country in the Air National Guard from 1963-1969. Vinny was a civic-minded member of his community and always active within his church, having been a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus, former president of St. Vincent de Paul Society (Bridgeville, PA), served as a Stevens Minister and was a former president of various parish councils in Lewistown, PA, Zionsville, IN, and Bridgeville, PA. He was also a member of the Cercemaggiore Association in Greensburg, PA and Waterbury, CT. Vinny worked in scholastic sales from 1962-2007. He served in various sales and management roles with Dieges and Clust, Herff Jones, Balfour, and Tuition Management. Along with his business relationships, he made strong and lasting connections with clients and colleagues. Having managed the European sales territories with Herff Jones and Balfour, Vinny was able to travel throughout Europe and North America. He took pride in his role as a liaison between Herff Jones and the Heisman Trophy Committee and the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award Committee. Vinny’s passion was his family and friends. From watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, going to the beach, and playing golf, Vinny was full of life in everything he did. Also surviving are two brothers, Claude Petroy and Father Dominic Petroy, OSB; sisters-in-law, Joanne Condo (Jim DiStefano), Saundra (Jim) Singer, Dot DeBone, and Rhonda Petroy; brother-in-law Frank DeBone; along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Vinny was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary; a brother, Jack Petroy; sisters, Virginia (Marty) Kloock and infant sister, Victoria Lynn Petroy; sister-in-law Arlene Petroy; father and mother-in-law, Angelo and Jennie DeBone; sister and brother-in-law, Palmine and Shorty Shaw, and Joe DeBone. Relatives and friends of Vinny Are invited to attend his funeral Mass to be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 22nd, in Our Lady of Grace Church, Greensburg.
