Ruth E. (Goodman) Funk, 97, of Greensburg, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at home, with her daughter by her side. She was born July 25, 1918, in Pleasant Unity, a daughter of the late Robert Edward and Anna Susak Goodman. Ruth was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her husband and family. After her husband's death, she recreated herself and went to work for Westmoreland County as a tax clerk from 1971-1995. She has been a longtime member of St. Pius X Church and their Rosary Altar Society in Mt. Pleasant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Funk, in 1970; two brothers, George and Robert Goodman; a sister, Nellie Selembo; and a son-in-law, Darryl "Skip" Mayfield. She is survived by her daughter, Constance Funk Mayfield, of Greensburg; her son, Robert W. Funk and wife, Sandra, of Uxbridge, Mass.; a granddaughter, Leah Steeves; a sister, Gladys Shultis, of Lycippus; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no public viewing. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Ruth at her funeral Mass to be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, in the St. Pius X Church, Mt. Pleasant. Interment will follow in St. Pius X Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
