Ronald P. Paluzzi Sr ., 85, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, in Westmoreland Manor. He was born Feb. 26, 1932, in South Greensburg, a son of the late Julius and Mary Colonna Paluzzi. Ron's earliest job was with the water company, but from an early age he was an entrepreneur at heart and throughout his life created several successful businesses including Ace Beer Distributing. He would later use that experience to open the Beverage Mart in Greensburg. He was a successful general agent for Minnesota Mutual Insurance during the 1970s. For many, including virtually all of the members of the Pittsburgh Steelers championship teams from the 1970s, he will be remembered for the project that was the fulfillment of a lifetime dream as the gracious and welcoming owner of the Intermission Restaurant in Latrobe. During his time at the Intermission he became an accomplished chef. After retiring from the restaurant, Ron worked as Deputy Sheriff for Westmoreland County. Ron was a member of St. Bruno's Church in South Greensburg and active in his community through his service with the Lions Club and as a member of the South Greensburg City Council and board member of Mutual Aid Ambulance. He was a lifelong member of the AMS Club in South Greensburg, following in the footsteps of his father, Julius, who was one of the founding members of the club. His favorite pastimes included golf and playing bridge. Ron had a wide circle of friends with whom he enjoyed spending time. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth E. Rahl Paluzzi; two brothers, Edward and Richard Paluzzi; and a grandson, Dante Paluzzi. He is survived by his four children, Edward R. Paluzzi (Deborah), of Unity Township, Joan E. Paluzzi, of Lebanon, Ore., Lynn M. Rychlicki (Gary), of Greensburg, and Ronald P. Paluzzi Jr. (Beth), of Latrobe; 13 grandchildren, Brandon Paluzzi (Ouarda), April Arsenault (Andrew), Keaton Paluzzi (fiance Lauren Holmes), Dalton Paluzzi (Brittany), Kara Gleghorn (Michael), Matthew Rychlicki (Jessie), Lacey Doran (Michael), Alex Paluzzi (Stephanie), Sarah Richards (William), Anthony Paluzzi (Nicole) and Christopher, Mia and Tessa Paluzzi; 11 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kina and Karma Arsenault, Aidan, Elizabeth, Audrey and Dean Gleghorn, Colin, Lucas and Shane Doran and Wyatt Richards; a sister, Marlene Fordyce (Donald), of South Greensburg; a brother-in-law, Ronald 'Pete' Rahl (Gerry Lou), of Florida; two sister-in-law’s, Edna Lee Paluzzi of Greensburg and Ann Rahl, of Bovard; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Ron from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020. Parting prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Bruno Church, South Greensburg.
