Robert J. Gritzer, 77, of Greensburg passed away peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 21, 1947, in Johnstown and was a son of the late Michael and Helen Radak Gritzer. Bob graduated from Johnstown High School and then the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. He was a retired electrician and a member of various wildlife conservation organizations. He served his Country in the US Army and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and spending time with his faithful labrador retrievers most recently his forever companion Champ. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Evelyn J. Safko Gritzer; two sons, Robert M. Gritzer of Greensburg and Mark J. Gritzer (Chandra D. Gorton) of Clearfield; two siblings, John M. Gritzer (Doris) and Patricia A. Gritzer both of Johnstown; sister in laws, Marilyn Costic (James) of Greensburg and Carolyn Kaharick of Myrtle Beach, SC; and several nieces and nephews. At the request of the family all services will be private. The family would like to thank the staff of UPMC Mercy Hospital and Family Hospice for their kindness and compassion during Bob's illness as well as Evelyn's sister Carolyn for all of her medical support.
