Richard P. Sacharov, 75, of South Greensburg, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. He was born March 25, 1942, in Charleroi, a son of the late Michael and Isabel Strang Sacharov. Richard was a member of St. Bruno Church, a graduate of Monessen High School and California University and was a Navy veteran, serving on the USS Forrestal. He was retired from Westmoreland County, where he was a case worker for both the Area Agency on Aging and the Children's Bureau. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, bicycling, painting and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Sacharov. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Lee Furniss Sacharov; three daughters, Charlotte Strine (Collin), of Monrovia, Md., Elizabeth Manno (David), of Washington, D.C., and Sara DeMary (Ryan), of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren, Ashton and Reed Strine, Vivian Manno and Lia and Brooks DeMary; a sister, Shirley Reno (Tony), of Monessen; and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Richard from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, 724-837-0020. Parting prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m. Monday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Bruno Church, South Greensburg. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to a charity of one's choice.
