Mary "Betty" Maruca

Mary E. "Betty" (Dominick) Maruca , 92, of Slickville, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, in the William Penn Care Center. She was born Feb. 19, 1927, in Crabtree, a daughter of the late Charles and Nellie Keller Dominick. Betty was a member of St. Sylvester Parish and their Rosary Altar Society. She was serving as the current president of the Slickville Civic Center and has held the office for over 40 years. She was a member of the Westmoreland County Democratic Committee for 38 years.  She also served for several years on the board of the Salem Township Public Library. She was a dedicated and faithful member of her community and was proud to be active. She also enjoyed quilting and made several beautiful pieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. "Muzzy" Maruca Sr. in December 1987; sister, Martha Dominick; four brothers, Anthony "Red," Charles, Edward and Lawrence Dominick, and her son Frank's life partner, Francine A. Gangle. She is survived by her two sons, Joseph Maruca (Becky) and Frank Maruca, all of Slickville; three grandchildren, Joseph D. Maruca, Jennifer Shipley (Irvin) and Jesse Maruca; great-grandson, Caleb Shipley; sister, Tillie Monstrola, of Jeannette; two brothers, Raymond Dominick, of Crabtree, and Richard Dominick (Jeanie), of Latrobe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Betty from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, 724-837-0020 . A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Sylvester Church, Slickville. Interment will follow in Eastview Union Cemetery, Delmont.
