Kathryn S. (Aneiro) Staples , 68, of Greensburg, died Monday, October 31, 2022 in her home. She was born February 6, 1954, in Monterey Park, CA, a daughter of Vincent 'Pete' Aneiro of Alta Loma, CA and the late Allene DeWitt Aneiro. Kathryn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and her husband were active with the precinct election board and also had been foster parents for a time. From 1988 to 2002, the Staples family resided in Japan. Kathy was an active member of her community and her daughters’ schools. Even with the language gap, she always managed to make friends because of her extroverted and loving personality. She found ways to volunteer her time and even served on the PTA in the local Japanese school. She learned to cook several Japanese dishes and her children’s favorite was her cream stew. Kathy was an optimist and always saw the good in people or any situation. She treasured her faith and her family, and also had a soft spot for animals. Her cat, Mia, will surely miss her cuddles at night. Her children remember her playing lively music and throwing dance parties in the living room or kitchen. She loved the musicals Singing in the Rain, The Sound of Music, Oklahoma, and many other classics. Kathy lost most of her vision after suffering from retina detachment in 2021. Even then, she kept her optimism. She was an avid reader and found ways to keep on reading with audiobooks. She is also a colon cancer survivor and lived her last years to the fullest cancer-free. She was preceded in death by her mother, Allene DeWitt Aneiro in 2020. In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband of thirty-eight years, David G. Staples; three daughters, Laura Davis (Jared) of Springville, UT, Rebekah Teranobu (Shintaro) of Charlotte, NC and Susannah Naillon (Jase) of Kobe, Japan; six grandchildren, Millie, Landon and Bridger Davis, Minami Teranobu and Nathan and Noel Naillon; sister, Bettie Welton (Jon) of Spanish Fork; UT, brother, Pete Aneiro (Kim) of Eastvale, CA and several in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
