Judith (Judy) Ann McNamee Panebianco passed away peacefully on October 14, 2022 at age 82. Judy was born on November 26, 1939 to Thomas P. and LaVera (Van Dyke) McNamee in New Eagle, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Donora High School, Judy attended California University of Pennsylvania where, in 1961, she graduated with a degree in elementary education and speech correction. She received her Master’s Degree in Special Education from West Virginia University in 1965 and worked as a speech therapist and special education teacher for Westmoreland Intermediate Unit for thirty eight years. During her career, Judy received numerous awards and recognitions which included the Annie Sullivan Award, Women’s History Awareness Project Award and the Thanks to Teacher Award sponsored by KDKA Channel 2, Giant Eagle, Westinghouse and University of Pittsburgh School of Education. While at the Greensburg Salem Middle School, Judy and her good friend Dawn Germano developed a community service program that involved Greensburg Salem students, the Clelian Heights Young Adult Program and Seton Hill University students known as the YES Program. She and Dawn Germano also cosponsored the Student Council at the Greensburg Salem Middle School for many years. Judy, always concerned with serving, founded the Greensburg Salem Middle School Giving Tree program. After her retirement from public education, Judy spent six years working as an adjunct professor in the Special Education Department at Seton Hill University where she also supervised student teachers. Judy served as a Peer Monitor for the Pennsylvania Department of Education, provided speech services to non-public students, and was a past board member of the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit Foundation. Judy had been an active member of St. Bruno Church in South Greensburg where she had previously served on the Pastoral Council, was a former officer and member of the Rosary Altar Society, was a festival worker, and Eucharistic Minister. She was a past president of the Greensburg Club of Italian Woman and was a member of the Greensburg College Club. She participated as a chaperone for the Westmoreland County Special Olympic Program and spent time volunteering at the Westmoreland County Interscholastic Reading Competition sponsored by the Greensburg Salem School District. Judy will always be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, aunt and friend who touched many lives. She found joy in helping others and took pride in the accomplishments of her students with whom she shared her passion for learning. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick Panebianco and her son, Patrick Panebianco. Judy is survived by her daughter, Amy Panebianco, her sister-in-law, Fran (Panebianco) Iezzi, numerous nieces, nephews and friends and her son’s partner, Elia Espinosa. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Judy, Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020. The Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Prayers of transfer will be said in the funeral home Wednesday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Bruno Church, South Greensburg. Entombment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Memorial contributions can be made to the Saint Bruno Rosary Altar Society and Clelian Heights School in Westmoreland County.
