Joseph A. Scarpo Sr ., 82, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, April 26, 2017, in the Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. He was born Dec. 22, 1934, in Crabtree, a son of the late Ralph and Jenny Crocetti Scarpo. For most of Joe's life, he was self-employed with Scarpo's Auto and Truck Repair and finished out his career with his friends at K&N Paving in Greensburg. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Church, Crabtree, and the Knights of Columbus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Darazio Scarpo; a daughter, Gina L. Turner; a brother, John Scarpo; and a sister, Ann Torockio. He is survived by his two sons, Joseph A. Scarpo Jr. (Marcy), of Irwin, and Mark Scarpo (Cindy), of Latrobe; a daughter, Theresa Moore Scarpo (Jamie), of Phoenix, Ariz.; a son-in-law, Tyler Turner, of Florida; eight grandchildren, T.J. Turner, Christa Batchelder (Jerry), Mark Scarpo (Allison), Melissa Jacobs (Nate), Julie Scarpo and fiancee Adrianne Groth, Anthony Scarpo and fiancee Amanda Schilling, Danielle Conroy (Tim) and Heather Bellus; seven great-grandchildren, Alexa, Giulianna, Kenzie, Cole, Michelle, Addison and Carly; two sisters, Mary Rossi and Edith Gendek, both of Greensburg; two brothers, Arco Scarp (Elizabeth), of Akron, Ohio, and Ralph Scarpo (Louise), of Greensburg; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Joe from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, 724-837-0020. Parting prayers will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Saturday followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Bartholomew Church, with Father Justin Matro, OSB, celebrating. Interment with full military honors accorded by the VFW Post 33 Honor Guard will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree.
