Joseph R. Chemelli

Joseph R. Chemelli, 75, of Greensburg, died Monday, January 20, 2025, in the Westmoreland Hospital. He was born March 08, 1949, in Brackenridge, a son of the late Geno and Florence Salvaterra Chemelli. Joe was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church and a 4th Degree with the Knights of Columbus, Council 1480, Greensburg. For the past several years he worked for H & R Block as a tax preparer. Prior to this he had worked at the former Volkswagen plant in New Stanton, Jeannette District Memorial Hospital and Lowes. He was an accomplished student and athlete at Grand River Academy in Austinburg, Ohio where he made many lifelong friends and went on to coach soccer. Joe also enjoyed bike riding and participated in many charity bike rides over the years. He was an extremely active dad and “pap-pap” who always made himself available to play, help, teach, coach, be present, and make sure he was in the stands or audience no matter what. He always enjoyed helping others. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of forty-four years, Donna M. Guidas Chemelli; two children, Douglas Chemelli (Chase Wasilius) of Royal Oak, MI and Gina Goodman (Scott) of Greensburg; his grandchildren, Sammy, Ellis and Annie Goodman; sister, Rose Anne Busha (George) of Boulder, CO and their sons, Michael and David: a brother-in-law, Tom Guidas (Lisa) of Cranberry Township and Dale Dix, who was like a brother. Relatives and friends of Joe will be received Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020. Prayers of transfer will be said in the funeral home Saturday at 12:30 p.m., followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 1:00 PM, in the Our Lady of Grace Church. Interment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
