John Sachs, Sr.

John L. Sachs Sr ., 82, of Forbes Road, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022. He was born Aug. 17, 1939, in Forbes Road, a son of the late James H. Sachs Sr. and Antionette "Dolly" Sabato Sachs. John was a retired sales associate for the former Snyder Office Equipment in Greensburg and a veteran of the Marine Corps. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Church, Crabtree, the South Greensburg American Legion Post 981, the Loyal Order of the Moose, was a lifetime member of the Police Rod and Gun Club and the NRA and a former member of the Forbes Road VFD. He was a passionate New York Yankees and Penn State football fan. John enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Senior League at Mt. Odin. In his younger years, John was one of the original coaches for the Salem Township midget football and Salem Township Little League baseball. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, James H. Sachs Jr.; two nephews, James Sachs III and Jerry Backos Jr.; and three brothers-in-law, Frank Zuber, Rich Payha and Joe Radisi. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Percy A. Regola Sachs; three sons, John L. Sachs Jr. (Carol), of Delmont, Tony Sachs, of Forest Hills and Brian Sachs (Jocelyn Tuite), of Forbes Road; five grandchildren, Amanda Replogle (Asher), Dakota, Dylan, Brenna and Nick Sachs; Kyria Miller (James), who considered John her Pap; two sisters, Patricia Backos, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Marie Zuber, of Pittsburgh; sisters-in-law, Theresa Payha and Jayne Radisi, both of Greensburg, Carolyn Falo (Denny), of Forbes Road and Darlene Sachs, of Pittsburgh; and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of John from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, 724-837-0020 . Parting prayers will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 12:15 p.m., followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 1 p.m. in the St. Bartholomew Church with Father Justin Matro OSB celebrating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg.
