Ret. Col. Joe Flint Elliott, 96, of Crabtree, died Saturday, October 14, 2023. He was born September 16, 1927, in Dawsonville, GA, a son of the late Grady Woodfin Elliott and Minnie Idelle Palmour Elliott. Joe was a 1950 West Point Graduate and entered the US Army during WWII and was discharged as Colonel. He actively fought in Korea during the battle at Chosin Reservoir and in Vietnam at the battle of Suoi Tre. He also ran the R.O.T.C. Program at MIT. After retiring from the US Army in 1977, Joe became a real estate agent for Century 21, serving the Western PA region. He was the epitome of a southern gentleman and a soldier’s soldier. Joe was known for his warmth, wit and generosity and his endless love for family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia May Foote Elliott; son, Russell Stephen Elliott in December of 2022; and his sisters, Estelle Brannen, Eulalie Gibbs, Eunice Satterfield, and Evelyn Mitchell along with his brothers, Ray, Woodfin, Kenneth and Carl Elliott. He is survived by his daughter, Elgin Panichelle (Frank) of Crabtree; his beloved granddaughter, Hilah Rebosky (Corey) of Derry; two great grandchildren, Cammeron, and Freya Rebosky; sister, Fay Caldwell of Lawrenceville, GA; a daughter in law, Martha Park Elliott of Chesterfield, VA and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. There will be no local public services. Interment with full Military Honors will follow in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Vietnam Veterans to Alpha Association, 372 Brooklawn Ave., New Bedford, MA 02745-5129.
