Joan Duda

Joan G. (Helferich) Duda , 89, of Luxor, died Monday, June 13, 2016, at home. She was born April 1, 1927, in Queens, N.Y., a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Meyers Helferich. She had been secretary for Otis Elevator in New York. Joan was a member of St. Bartholomew Church and had served on the Calvary Hill Cemetery Council for quite some time. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Emery J. Duda Jr.; five sisters; and three brothers. She is survived by her brother, Edward Kammer, of Norwalk, N.J.; three sisters-in-law, Susan Rausch, of Staten Island, N.Y., Agnes Kalp, of Greensburg, and Esther Bungard, of Luxor; special nieces and nephew, Cindy Elliott and husband, Monte, and their son, Randy, Brenda Donahue and husband, Sean, and their daughters, Brittany and Caitlin and Dale Bungard, who cared for her during her illness; a number of loving nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Dot Dwyer, of Luxor. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Joan from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, 724-837-0020. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. in the Pantalone Funeral Home, with Father Justin Matro, OSB, officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree.
