Joan C. (Guidas) Contic, 89, of South Greensburg, died Thursday, July 11, 2024, in the Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. She was born March 07, 1935, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Michael J. and Matilda G. Stepanic Guidas. Joan was a faithful member of St. Bruno Church and their Rosary Altar Society. Prior to raising her five sons, Joan worked as an office manager for ITE as well as Bell Telephone. She loved to read, watch game shows and trying her luck at the casino with her friends while they were on their 'shopping trips'. She treasured the times that she and Sam travelled, especially on the numerous cruises that they went on. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Jerome and Gregory Guidas; and a sister, Helen Curry. She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Samuel R. Contic; five sons, Brian Contic and Ken Contic, both of Greensburg, Vince Contic (Teresa) of Manchester, NH, and Gary Contic and Sam Contic (Alicia) all of Greensburg; twelve grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Pierce and Bunny Conte of Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joan’s funeral Mass to be celebrated on Monday, July 15th at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Bruno Church, South Greensburg.
