James Edward Sullivan passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, Sept. 28, 2021, at Westmoreland Hospital, with several family members by his side. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Eugene; mother, Lorraine; and brothers, David and Thomas. Jim was a 17-year veteran of the Navy, serving as a chief cryptologic technician, and had the honor of serving with the Cryptologic Support Group for Desert Storm from 1988 to 1991. He received numerous meritorious awards during his Navy career serving on the U.S.S. Jouett and U.S.S. Anzio. Ports of call included Winter Harbor, Maine, Kunia, Hawaii, London, U.K., and Key West, Fla. Personal accomplishments included running a marathon while in Hawaii and being a self-taught musician. After retiring from the Navy, he worked with the U.S. Postal Service, UPS and American Stamp Collectibles. He is survived by children, Zachary and Kristen; sister, Patte and husband, Bob, of Knoxville, Tenn.; and brothers, Dennis and wife, Debra, of Altoona, Pa., Michael, of Selbyville, Del., and Timothy and partner, Angela, of Greensburg. James was loved dearly by all his cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, and especially his Aunt Joanne and beloved pet, Socks. James, yours was a "heart of gold."
