Dr. Gregory D. Grabiak

Dr. Gregory Dennis Grabiak, 84, of Latrobe, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2023, forty-two years and one day after his beloved wife Rita (Emili).  He was a devoted and loving father to his three daughters Tracy Rosky (husband Leonard) of Latrobe, PA, Dr. Beth Grabiak of Pittsburgh, PA, and Lynn Murphy (husband William) of Rocky River, Ohio. He shared a special relationship with his grandchildren Samantha, Nicholas (wife Elizabeth), Alexander, Jackson, Delaney and Dylan and great grandson Dean. Born August 2, 1939, he was a son of the late Samuel Joseph Grabiak and Stella Jane (Vensel) and a brother of the late Samuel L. Grabiak and the late Loretta C. Bushey.  He was raised in Slickville, PA and later New Alexandria, PA where he developed a love of cars at Grabiak Chevrolet. Medicine was his calling. He graduated from Saint Vincent College in 1961 and Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in 1965. He served as a U.S. Army Captain in Vietnam from 1966-1967. He completed a residency in Otolaryngology at Eye & Ear Hospital of Pittsburgh from 1968-1972 and practiced as a Board Certified Otorhinolaryngologist at The Eye & Ear Institute in Pittsburgh, PA and Latrobe and Westmoreland Hospitals. Following his retirement in 2005, he took a once in a lifetime trip to the Geographic North Pole.  He enjoyed skiing at Seven Springs and around the world with family and friends and was an avid golfer. He was a member of many local golf clubs throughout his lifetime, where he enjoyed friendly competition and undeniable camaraderie. A good laugh was never lost on him.  He was a fan of the “Pluggers” cartoon and was chosen to be published seven times for his clever observations about life.  He will be greatly missed and remembered by his family forever. The family will receive relatives and friends at Saint Vincent Basilica Parish at 9:30 am on Friday November 3, 2023, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am.
