George F. "Moose" Moreland, II

George F. Moreland II, 76, of Greensburg, better known as Moose, passed away peacefully, and surrounded by his family on November 15, 2024. Moose fought a fierce and courageous battle against cancer. His strength and character were obvious during the journey. Son of George F. Moreland and Rosalia J. Moreland, he was born February 8, 1948, in Greensburg, PA. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandsons, Connor James, and Alexander Lamont, and his sister Patricia Whittemore. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 46 years, Maureen, son George F. Moreland III (Gwendollynn), son Christopher Moreland, daughter Lisa Moreland (Steve Martel), grandchildren Marley, Beckett, Arden, Boden, Hunter and Noah, and sister Andrea Moreland (Tampa Fl). In addition, many nieces, family members and friends from a lifetime of giving love and light to those around him. Moose graduated from Greensburg Salem High School in 1966 and could be found rooting for their football team every chance he got. Moose retired from the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County after 25 years. He loved his Country and was proud member of the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He continued to serve after deployment as a life member of the VFW Post 33. Moose was a Post Officer for 22 years and the president of the Honor Guard. He found great solace in honoring our Fallen Soldiers with his time in the Honor Guard. In addition, his was member of the American Legion Post 981, the Hilltop Club, and the AMS Club. Moose’s hobbies included bowling, golf and an outstanding Oldies collection. His greatest accomplishment was his love for his family. Moose’s time with his grandchildren brought him love, laughter, and light. His fur babies, Quincy and Bailey gave him great joy. We would like to thank Allegheny General Oncology, Dr Nathan Bahary, Kate and all the staff for their care and compassion for our beloved husband and father during his battle. Allegheny General Hospice for helping all of us with the process and allowing him to be home. He loved the Lord and is finally at peace in Jesus’s arms. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Allegheny General Hospice Program. Relatives and friends of Moose will be received Wednesday from 3 to 8 p.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the Christ's Church, 145 N Main St, Greensburg, with Fr. Jeff Wylie, officiating. Everyone please go directly to the Church. Interment with full Military Honors accorded by the VFW Post 33 Honor Guard will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Allegheny General Hospice Program. In his final words, Moose wanted to publicly say: “To my wife and best friend Maureen, I would like to personally thank you for all the care and love you gave me over 46 years of marriage, especially during my illness. You are my strength when I am weak and my love of a lifetime. I will be waiting for you in Heaven”. George’s family has entrusted his care to the Pantalone Funeral Home Inc., Greensburg.
