Francis Thomas

Francis E. "Frank" Thomas Sr., 92, of Greensburg, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, in the Allegheny General Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born April 1, 1926, in Greensburg, a son of the late William E. and Mary Simoncic Thomas. He was retired from PPG Industries, and a Navy veteran, having served in the Pacific during World War II. He was a member of St. Paul Church and the Roosevelt Club, the Youngwood Sportsman, the American Legion in Wilcox and was a lifelong member of the SNPJ Club. Frank loved doing crossword puzzles and reading and was an avid hunter and sportsman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William E. Thomas Jr.; an infant sister, Jean; a brother-in-law, Joseph Brown, and a sister-in-law, Mary J. Thomas. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Donna L. Rahl Thomas; four children, Sharon Zane (Don), of Davie, Fla., Francis E. "Frank" Thomas Jr. (Karen), Karla Thomas (David Samuel) and Kristie Thomas (Jeff), all of Greensburg; his beloved  grandson, Kevin Samuel, who lovingly called him "Pappy"; two sisters-in-law, Charlene Brown, of Greensburg, and Sandra Rahl (Jerry DiLossi), of Blackwood, N.J.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
