Florence U. Siard

Florence (Urban) Siard, 90, who lived most of her life in Greensburg, passed away on May 31, 2023 in Valencia.  She was born March 10, 1933 in Mutual, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Mazur) Urban. In 1955 Florence married her devoted and loving husband, William Siard Sr.  Together they raised 3 children: William Jr, Thomas, and Vicki. After graduating from Hurst High School, Flo was one of two graduates from the first graduating class of the Seton Hill College of Nursing (Westmoreland Hospital). She worked as a nurse anesthetist until leaving to become a full-time mother to her greatest treasures in life.  She always had time to spend with her children and to encourage their interests. Flo was appreciated as an excellent cook by her family and delighted in hosting family gatherings.  Treasured conversations often took place in and around her kitchen while she was serving those she loved.  She enjoyed singing and enthusiastically called to sing “Happy Birthday” when distance kept her from seeing relatives on their birthday.  Her often-spoken passion in life was "family is everything," and her family knew that she was always available when someone needed help.  In addition to cooking and baking, her hobbies included gardening, walking, and teaching water aerobics classes at the YMCA. Florence is survived by her husband of 67 years, sons William (Diana) Siard Jr., Thomas (Lisa) Siard, daughter Vicki (Jeff) Rothermel, grandchildren Jeremy and William (Caitlin) Siard, Melissa (Alex) Altman, Christian Siard, Ryan and Rachel Rothermel, brothers Clement (Jeanne) Urban and Joseph (Carol) Urban. In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by brothers, Adam Urban (infant), Walter Urban, and sister Anna Marie Valentage. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Florence, Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020.  Prayers of transfer will be said in the funeral home Tuesday at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, Greensburg.  Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. The family would like to thank the staff of The Arbors at St. Barnabas and St. Barnabas Nursing Home for their compassionate care and kindness given to their wife and mother.  They would also like to thank the staff of DCI of the Seven Fields location and Quality EMS in Mars, especially Susie and Lucas, for the past four years that Florence had to have dialysis.  Their support and care did not go unnoticed.
