Esther Ryan

Esther Ryan, 91, of Greensburg, passed away peacefully at Latrobe Hospital on Friday, May 17, 2024.   She was born August 27, 1932, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Hans and Frances Behr.  She was the last surviving of siblings Lillian Hoff, Eleanora Lutz, Francis “Sonny” Behr and Hans Behr, Jr.  Esther is survived by two daughters, Andrea Frustaci (Paul) of New Alexandria and Marcia Hartung (Gary) of Jeannette, niece Connie Faddis of Columbus, OH and grandchildren Evelyn “Evie” Hartung (Jason Perkins) of Pittsburgh and Kristen Hartung of Greensburg; six great grandchildren, Gwendolyn, Wailand, Emerson, Arelyn, Trinity and Jaxon.  Esther was an avid gardener, member of the Pittsburgh Orchid Society and longtime volunteer at Phipps Conservatory caring for the orchids.  She was a world traveler and loved new adventures insisting on riding a camel in both Egypt and Israel.  She became an RN later in life and worked for many years at UPMC Western Psych helping patients overcome addiction.   Respecting Esther’s wishes there will be no viewing and services will be private.  Esther’s family has entrusted her care to the Clement L.
