Elaine J. Hilling , 78, of Jeannette, passed away peacefully at home on August 2, 2021. She was born on July 25, 1943, in Indiana, PA, a daughter of the late Earl and Stella (Burtick) Chambers. Elaine was a graduate of Greensburg Salem High School. She was previously employed by Joe Workman’s in Greensburg. Elaine had an incredible sense of humor, and no one could be in her presence without smiling or laughing. One of her more memorable antics was wearing a huge inflatable helmet and dancing around the house during a Super Bowl party. There was never a dull moment with her. She was also a wonderful cook. Her deviled eggs, potato salad and “Anka’s Fish” were always in demand. Elaine loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed entertaining them at the pavilion she and her husband built on their property. Elaine made everyone feel welcome. Her door was always open, and she never failed to lend an ear if someone needed to talk. She gave thanks to God every day upon rising, and her favorite hymn was “Amazing Grace.” She was truly one of a kind. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Thomas W. Hilling, on February 17, 2009 and her sister, Janet L. Angelo. Also preceding her in death were her father and mother-in-law Sam and Eleanor (Peg) Hilling; brother and sister-in-law Sam and Pat Hilling and sister-in-law Martha Monaghan. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Denise (Skodak) Simon and husband James; granddaughters, Vanessa Simon, Stephanie Daniels and Jamie Isett; Sabrina Rice; brother-in-law Thomas P. Angelo and niece Nicole Marie Angelo. The family would also like to extend special thanks to Amedisys Hospice as well as Sharon Johnson and family for their care and assistance. “Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail, and mortal life shall cease, I shall possess, within the veil, a life of joy and peace.” Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Elaine, Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11a.m., the time of services in the Clement L.
