Edward Buggs II , 94, of Hannastown, died Sunday, March 6, 2016, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Nov. 27, 1921, in Indiana, a son of the late Edward Buggs Sr. and Margaret Stern Buggs. Ed started his employment at General Tire during World War II, helping on the home front. He then went on to work as a mason until his retirement from U.S. Steel, Edgar Thomson Works, in Braddock. After his retirement, Ed went on to be a highway superintendent for Indiana Construction. In his younger years, Ed was a football coach with the Cathedral "Bone Crushers." In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Royster Buggs; a grandson, Edward Buggs IV; a great-grandson, Edward Buggs V; his brother, Henry Buggs; and three sisters, Luella Redd, Louise and Helen Buggs. He is survived by his four daughters, Margaret Hunter and husband, Thomas, of Pittsburgh, Lois Smith, of Mt. Pleasant, Shirley Henderson and husband, Ronald, of Greensburg, and Louella Mickens and husband, Philip, of Jeannette; his son, Edward Buggs III, of Hannastown; 10 grandchildren; six-plus great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Edward from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, 724-837-0020. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Pantalone Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Pleasant Unity Methodist Cemetery.
