Dominica "Minnie" Salandro

Dominica Louise "Minnie" Salandro , 95, of Greensburg, formerly of Mt. Pleasant and Latrobe, passed peacefully in her sleep Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021, in the Westmoreland Manor. She was born Nov. 12, 1926, in Crabtree, a daughter of the late Luigi and Mary DelCostello Ferri. Minnie was the bakery manager for the former Red and White Supermarket. Frank and Dominica met as childhood friends and neighbors and were later married on July 27, 1946. Her friends and loved ones were blessed by her love and kindness, her warm and helpful ways, and her excellent cooking and baking. She loved babies and children and was always quick to cheer everyone up with a smile and a joke or two. Dominica will be dearly missed and always remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Paul T. and Anthony Ferry; and a sister, Joanne Short. Minnie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 75 years, Frank Salandro; a son, Ron Salandro, of Palm Desert, Calif.; a sister, Jean Rodgers; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be no public viewing. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dominica's funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in the St. Bartholomew Church, Crabtree, with Father Justin Matro OSB celebrating. Entombment will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. Please be prepared to adhere to all current CDC guidelines. Minnie's family has entrusted her care to CLEMENT L.
