David Basl

David L. Basl , 72, of Greensburg, died Thursday, April 21, 2022. He was born April 12, 1950, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Robert and Dorothy George Basl. Dave was employed as the service manager for Smail Auto Group, Mercedes-Benz Division, Greensburg. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral and was scout master for Troop No. 401 based at the Cathedral for many years. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Lois J. Pollack Basl; four children, Joseph Basl (Shelly), of Wexford, Stephen Basl (Stephanie), of Whitehall, Matthew Basl (Melanie), of South Park, and Lauren Zaccheo (Thomas), of Millersville, Md.; five grandchildren, Grayson, Bentley and John David Basl, and Thomas Zaccheo and Sydney Basl; a much anticipated granddaughter in the next few weeks; three siblings, Robert Basl (Kathy), of Wexford, Judith Basl, of Sewickley, and John Basl (Pam), of Brockway; father-in-law, Joseph Pollack, of McKeesport; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Firda (Robert), Jackie Pollack and Kim Pollack, all of McKeesport; and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Dave from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, 724-837-0020. Parting prayers will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, in the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral.
