Carmella Moffa

On Tuesday, July 12th, the Lord called Carmella Moffa to join him and her husband Paul in the Kingdom of Heaven after her gallant 20 year battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia.  On September 6, 1926 Carmella came into this world as the first born child of Gaetano and Mary P. (Debone) Wass.  She was followed by Louis and Joan (King) who are now deceased, and is survived by Frank (Joann) and Gloria (Ronald) Rossi, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She has two sons, Paul Jr. and Dr. David Moffa, his wife Rosemarie and their two children, Carmelena and David who were the love of her life.  Carmella was employed by Westmoreland Hospital after graduating from Greensburg High School, only to leave after 13 years to raise her family.  Later in life she served as the office manager for Jay B. Peterson, MD for 29 years until she retired at the age of 70 due to the onset of dementia.  Her last 10 years were spent in the care of the wonderful nuns and staff at St. Anne’s Home.  The family would like to especially thank Dr. Michael K. Sauter, MD, who’s deep care and concern guided Carmella and her family through the 20 years of her illness, and Judy Lichty who was her nurse and guardian angel at St. Anne’s, her sister Gloria for taking her for walks and making sure that she looked nice every day, Gloria’s daughter Kristin who spent countless hours visiting her “Aunt Meldo”, and special nieces Bernadette Dixon and Cynthia Booley for their care and support over the years.  The family would also like to thank her nephew Edward Galando, sister-in-law Sally Moffa, cousin Frank Perricelli, neighbor Sandy DeMarino, and family friends Denny and Denise Yeager who took time from their busy lives to visit Carmella and support the family. Services were private and Carmella was interred with her husband Paul at the Greensburg Catholic Cemetery.
