Appolus Jones

Appolus Jones , 88, of Greensburg, died Monday, April 12, 2021.  He was born January 02, 1933, in Louisville, KY, a son of the late John Obed Jones and Arbell Powell Jones.  Appolus was a retired supervisor for Supervalu, Youngwood.  While serving in the US Army, AJ excelled in various sports and was a paratrooper.  He loved spending time and vacationing with his family.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter Phyllis Eldridge; granddaughter, Tysha Eldridge; and five siblings, Nathaniel and Jay Jones, Martha Robinson, Fern Cotton and Mary Ruth Wilson.  He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of sixty-two years, Bernice Colston Jones; seven children, Deborah Douglass (James) of Pittsburgh, Kenneth M. Jones (Sherita) of Greensburg, Kevin Jones of Latrobe, Twanna Nelms (James) of Greensburg, Iglesias Jones of Pittsburgh, Angelo Jones of Latrobe and Kyilah Jones of Latrobe; eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Appolus, Monday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.. in the New Creation Family Worship Center, 119 Westmoreland Ave, Greensburg, PA 15601.  A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Bishop Derrick Johnson, officiating.  Interment with Military Honors will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.  Keeping with CDC guidelines, those attending the viewing and funeral are required to wear face masks and practice social distancing.  Appolus’ family has entrusted his care to the Clement L.
