Anthony "Tony" Jupina , 84, of Jeannette, passed away due to complications from covid-19 Tueday, Dec. 29, 2020. Born June 20, 1936, in Jeannette. He was the son of the late Anthony and Angela (Retondola) Jupina. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Tony managed his illness for 34 days in the hospital with strength and grace. On his final day, he was surrounded by his loved ones, who he adored more than anything else in the world. He retired from Jeannette School District in 2001, where he was president of the PSEA Southwestern Region. Previously, he was a tradesman at Westmoreland Glass and president of the Flint Glassworkers Union. He coached the Sacred Heart Cardinals football team. He is a veteran of the Army, where he served during the Cuban Crisis. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Arleen (Kovacs) Jupina; son, Anthony "Tony" Jupina and wife, Judy, of Greensburg; son, Michael Jupina, of Jeannette; and daughter, Trina (Bill) Klasnic, of Unity Township; seven grandchildren, Steve (Felicia) Klasnic, Carly (Jess) Tetkoski, Jacquelyn and boyfriend, Nate Tayman, Taylor (Cord) Leone, Matthew and girlfriend, Sophie Schmucker, Hannah, and Mia; three great-grandchildren, Ellie, Eliza and Kaia; and grandfurchild, Shadow. He is also survived by a sister, Marlene Vottero, of Jeanette; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. There will be no public viewing. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Anthony's funeral Mass to be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Vincent Basilica. Entombment will follow in Mary, Mother of Mercy Mausoleum at St. Vincent, Latrobe. Keeping with CDC guidelines, those attending the funeral are required to wear face masks.
