Anthony J. "Pete" Garofola

Anthony J. “Pete” Garofola, 96, of Crabtree, died Thursday, January 09, 2025. He was born October 05, 1928, in Crabtree, a son of the late Peter and Rose Ferruzzi Garofola. Pete was a retired Tax Collector for Salem Township and a Veteran of the US Army, having served his Country during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the St. Bartholomew Church, Crabtree Volunteer Fire Department and the American Legion Post #18 in Slickville. He enjoyed going to the casino with his family and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores J. Garofola in 2013; and all of his siblings, three brothers, Matthew, Michael and James Garofola and five sisters, Lena DeMarino, Nancy Donatico, Mafalda Scavo, Carmella Scuvotti and Florence Natale. He is survived by his five children, Denise Layton of Johnstown, Cynthia Falo (Jeff), Anthony Garofola, Jr. and Rosemary "Meme" Bachman (Jack), all of Greensburg and Dean Martin Garofola of Greensboro, NC; fourteen grandchildren, Kieran Layton (Connor), Kelsey Renner (Ethan), Danielle Falo, Jeffrey Falo, Jr., Anthony Garofola, III, Nikos Garofola, Samantha Garofola (Zach), Kyle Spangler (Alyssa), Taylor Spangler (John), Allen Merillo (Barbie), Caitlyn Englehart (Adam), Jack Bachman, Jr. (Erin), Olivia Garofola and Roman Garofola; six great grandchildren, Kade Renner, Ava and Noah Englehart and Mason, Liam and Blair Bachman and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family viewing will be held Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until parting prayers at 10:15 a.m. in the Clement L. Pantalone Funeral Home, Inc. 409 W. Pittsburgh Street, Greensburg, PA 15601, (724) 837-0020. Everyone is invited to attend Pete’s funeral Mass to be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., in the St. Bartholomew Church, Crabtree with Fr. Justin Matro, OSB, celebrating. Private interment will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery, Crabtree.
