Anthony Altieri

Anthony D. Altieri , 66, of Greensburg, formerly of Crabtree, died peacefully Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born April 30, 1949, in Greensburg, a son of the late Anthony R. and Eva Genta Altieri. Anthony operated the family-owned business, Shopping Center Beer Distributor, in Greensburg. He was a member of St. Bruno Church, at one point having been the president of the parish council and a CCD instructor. Anthony enjoyed various types of exercise, excelling in racquetball, and had a love of jogging, jumping rope, reading and cooking. Everyone who knew Tony will remember him as a kindhearted and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant grandson and his father-in-law, Joseph Sabol. He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Darlene R. Sabol Altieri; three children, Anthony J. Altieri, of Cranberry, Anne Marie Delaney and husband, Tomas, of Managua, Nicaragua, and Amanda Mills and husband, Matthew, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Ella, Eva, Henry and Lilly; two siblings, Maria June Altieri Zimmerman, of Greensburg, and Nicholas Altieri and wife, Ellen, of Greensburg; his mother-in-law, Nora "Eleanor" Sabol, of Greensburg; and loving nieces, nephews and in-laws. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Anthony from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the CLEMENT L. PANTALONE FUNERAL HOME INC., 409 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg, PA 15601, 724-837-0020. Parting prayers will be held at 12:45 p.m. Friday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. in St. Bruno Church, South Greensburg.
